Pickles, a pig on the run in Western Mass. since August, has died

The journey of Pickles, a pig that has been on the run in Western Massachusetts since August, got here to a tragic finish this week. 

Granby Animal Management introduced Thursday night that Pickles had been struck by a automobile and succumbed to his accidents. 

“We had been all hoping for a greater end result,” the division wrote. 

In response to MassLive, Pickles, who was only some months previous, had been roaming the woods since escaping from his Belchertown dwelling. He tripled in measurement throughout his months on the run, consuming individuals’s gardens and trash. 

Efforts to catch Pickles by Granby Animal Management lately included setting a “buffet” lure full with donuts, pumpkins, corn, and feed, in response to the publication.

After the announcement of the pig’s loss of life, condolences poured out on social media, with many sharing how they’d noticed him over the weeks that he was on the run.

“That is terrible information,” wrote one individual in response to the announcement. “I reside on Chicopee Avenue and I already miss seeing him. Poor man.”
